Why does roundness matter so much for pump check balls?
A check ball has to seal against its seat on every stroke. If the sphere is out of round, it seats inconsistently, leaks on the return stroke and shows up as lost volumetric efficiency on the test bench. That is why we grind in-house and audit roundness rather than relying on as-molded geometry.
