In-House OEM Custom PTFE Ball Machining
Industrial engineering often demands components that deviate from standard sizing catalogs. Hemsun Engg. Industries provides a comprehensive OEM solution for custom PTFE and Teflon balls. Rather than restricting you to a fixed sizing table, we do not machine spheres from pre-bought generic plastic rods; we mix and load premium raw materials in-house: specifically SRF Flonio 120 and 210 virgin PTFE resins, along with GFL Inoflon 610 for compounds, molding our own custom billets, rods, and bushes depending on the material. We construct our own molding presses and fabricate custom dies in our Gujarat factory toolroom, enabling us to compress preforms at calculations-driven MPa pressures (20–25 MPa for virgin/coloured, 40–45 MPa for bronze, up to 60 MPa for carbon/glass filled) to meet exact material properties, strict machining dimensional tolerances, and surface roughness specifications as per technical datasheets.
Whether you need modified PTFE compounds (such as TFM®) for lower permeability, colored pigments for visual coding, or specialty structural fillers (like MoS2 or graphite for vacuum seals), we oversee the manufacturing loop from initial raw powder blending to final spherical inspection.
Our Custom Capabilities Envelope
- Non-Standard Diameters: We machine decimal millimeter or imperial fraction diameters anywhere from 6 mm to 310 mm.
- Custom Fillers: Blend MoS2 for lubrication, graphite, pigments, or custom glass/carbon ratios.
- Strict Drawing Adherence: We work directly from customer-supplied CAD prints, meeting target diameters and roundness tolerances.
- Prototype Batches: Production of low-volume evaluation runs (e.g., 10 to 50 pieces) to verify fit and function.
OEM Sourcing Parameters
Step-by-Step Custom Sourcing Process
We apply a systematic design-to-production workflow to guarantee that your custom component satisfies your design requirements.
Drawing / Sample Review
Submit your prints or physical sample. We review your tolerances, nominal size, and select premium base raw materials: SRF Flonio 120 and 210 virgin PTFE powders, along with GFL Inoflon 610 resins depending on application needs.
Billet Molding & Tooling Setup
We mold our own custom preform billets/bushes in-house. Our toolroom fabricates compaction dies and presses to compress at calculated MPa (up to 60 MPa), followed by oven sintering.
In-house Machining & Inspection
Billets are turned, centerless ground, and mirror polished in-house to achieve calculations-driven surface roughness and machining tolerances before direct global delivery.
Specialty and Modified Resin Offerings
To expand upon standard PTFE properties, Hemsun processes modified fluoropolymers and custom blends.
Modified PTFE (TFM)
Provides lower permeability, better surface finish, and reduced cold flow under mechanical load while retaining standard chemical resistance.
MoS2 & Graphite Blends
Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) and graphite fillers improve material wear resistance and lower friction in dry vacuum valve systems.
Colored Coding
Colored pigments (blue, red, green) are compounded directly into the virgin resin, enabling simple visual sorting during assembly.
Custom Fiber Loads
We custom compound precise fiber percentages (e.g. 10% glass, 15% carbon) to meet specific coefficient of friction and mechanical criteria.
Reference Custom Sizing (6 mm to 310 mm)
We regularly machine custom sizes. Below are representative configurations we have manufactured for valve OEMs.
| Diameter (Metric/Imperial) | Material Compound | Achieved Tolerance | Special Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6.35 mm (1/4″) | Virgin TFM (Modified PTFE) | ±0.03 mm | High purity semiconductor seal |
| 15.00 mm | PTFE + 15% Glass + 5% MoS2 | ±0.05 mm | Dry vacuum check valve sphere |
| 22.22 mm (7/8″) | PTFE + Blue Pigment (FDA) | ±0.05 mm | Visual coding food processing pump |
| 28.50 mm | PTFE + 25% Carbon Coke | ±0.05 mm | Anti-static HF chemical seal |
| 45.00 mm | PTFE + 60% Bronze Powder | ±0.08 mm | High cycle hydraulic check ball |
| 70.00 mm | Virgin PTFE | ±0.10 mm | Custom sized slurry valve float |
| 120.00 mm | Virgin TFM (Modified PTFE) | ±0.15 mm | Low permeation LNG valve sphere |
| 310.00 mm | PTFE + 25% Glass Fiber | ±0.40 mm | Heavy custom spacer block guide |
Custom Manufacturing FAQ
Common B2B questions regarding drawings, prototypes, and tooling costs.
Do you charge additional tooling fees for custom sizes?
For custom machined sizes, we utilize our standard billet stock, which avoids tooling charges. If a custom compression mold size is needed to reduce material scrap for high-volume orders, a modest tooling setup charge may be quoted.
What file formats do you accept for engineering drawings?
We accept 2D files in PDF, DXF, or DWG formats, and 3D files in STEP, STP, or IGES formats. If drawings are unavailable, physical samples can be sent to our Gujarat factory for replication.
Can you manufacture modified PTFE (TFM) balls?
Yes. TFM® is a modified PTFE that offers a denser structure, lower permeability to gases, and reduced deformation under load. It is widely used in chemical plants and liquid gas (LNG) check valves.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom sizing runs?
Because custom runs require resetting lathe configurations and tools, the MOQ depends on the target ball diameter. We support prototype evaluation batches and scale to volume production.
