What are Coloured PTFE Balls?
Coloured PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) balls are solid spheres produced by compounding organic or inorganic food-grade pigments with virgin PTFE resins. At Hemsun Engg. Industries, we do not machine spheres from pre-bought plastic rods; we compound premium raw materials—using SRF Flonio 120/210 and GFL Inoflon 610 base resins—with FDA-compliant pigments in-house and mold our own custom billets, rods, and bushes. The preforms are compressed at calculated compaction pressures of 20–25 MPa in custom presses and dies fabricated in our own toolroom, followed by oven sintering under strictly calculated thermal curves. This calculations-driven approach guarantees absolute material quality, meeting target datasheet properties, uniform color consistency, strict machining tolerances, and surface roughness required for leak-free B2B industrial valves, check valves, and visual sorting systems.

Do coloured PTFE balls fade or leach color into fluids?
No. The food-grade pigments are completely compounded into the raw resin and bound within the sintered matrix. The pigments do not leach or fade, even when exposed to harsh chemicals or high temperatures.
Why is Blue the most common color for food processing lines?
Blue is used because it does not match natural food colors. In the rare event of mechanical wear or ball fragmentation, blue fragments are easily detected visually or by automated optical sensors, preventing food product contamination.
Can I request custom color matching for our company branding?
Yes. For large OEM volume contracts, we can custom-match pigment values to coordinate with your equipment branding or unique internal coding guidelines.
Does color pigment alter the friction or temperature limits of PTFE?
No. The pigment loading is very low (less than 1% by weight). The ball retains standard properties like a low coefficient of friction (0.04 - 0.08) and a full operational range of -200°C to +260°C.
